When One Tree Becomes a Forest, When One Intention Becomes a Legacy

When One Tree Becomes a Forest
When One Intention Becomes a Legacy

Herein, growing, building a metaphorical story!

One tree
shares the story of one life
reaching toward light_
A stand of trees
offers a different story,
the story of many lives reaching together,
the difference matters_

Trees standing near each other build two separate systems of connection:
1) one below the ground
2) one above the ground
Each system carries aging and care, and together they turn a single tree's story into something closer to a movement.

Below the soil line, root systems from separate trees touch, and often those roots fuse with threads of fungus running between them. Through this hidden "communication and nurturing network", trees pass water, sugar, and warning signals to each other, tree to tree, mostly unseen.

Aligning with people__this is a Community of Practice: people sharing the practical material of a life crossing sixty, skill for skill, method for method, root to root.
The exchange is quiet and mostly technical, closer to instruction than to feeling.
It is the layer where curated experience and mentoring move between people,
the same way nutrients move between trees.

Above the soil line, original connections happen. Canopies from separate trees overlap and filter light for each other, and a forest canopy behaves like one continuous surface even though many trees hold it up.

Aligning with people__this is a Community of Significare [significant caring]: people caring about each other's becoming rather than only trading technique.
Where the root network moves resources, the canopy network moves meaning: recognition, the sense of being seen while still growing.
A person reaching Legacent needs both layers: roots feeding the practice and canopy feeding the meaning.

Root networks and canopy networks work in different ways, and folding them into one general idea of community loses what each is actually doing.
Roots stay hidden and carry resources, while canopy stays visible and carries light.

And so, with people, a Movement built on this tree pattern keeps the two communities named separately, Practice below and Significare above, so neither layer gets lost inside the other.

Driving to the Mountains

None of this replaces the deciduous or coniferous path each person walks toward Legacent.
A tree standing inside a forest still grows its own canopy in its own season, at its own pace, shaped by its own history. What the forest shifts has nothing to do with the path each tree takes. What the forest shifts is how much a single tree has to carry alone, root by root and canopy by canopy.

A Movement is simply many people reaching Legacent within reach of each other. Working together, leveraging legacy and loveraging Legacent.

AND, the trunk transports the Intention to Impact story.
It's the bridge between the Canopy and branches and the Lateral and Tap Roots _ Read more
