A Story of Trust
Define the Term
Trust as a noun:
faith, hope, conviction, confide
Trust as a verb:
rely on, count on, have confidence in, hope in
Trustworthiness:
ability to be relied on for truth and honesty
Some Insights About Trust
Seek to know that trust comes from within
a decision to commit to accountability for one self with others
grown from the perspective of know thyself, so you will know others
Investigate before you invest in others
seek to understand the other person's trustworthiness
(listen to the words shared, watch actions)
Look for similarities
because it is difficult to establish trust,
yet easy to destroy it in a moment
Integrate trust into your everyday
because it allows you to accept dissent
and ride through the turbulence of group process
every step with others is open to translation,
you must be ready, able and willing to interpret
your understanding through ideas and actions
Develop from access to adequate or total information
from which a person can influence or make decisions
in ways that influence their work
so that more trust develops from access to adequate or .........
... and so continues the spiral
Consider when working at the "Speed of Trust" (S.R. Covey)
High Trust = Increase Speed, Lower Cost
Low Trust = Lower Speed, Higher Cost
What is the significance of this insight to your workplace transition - NOW?
Trust Materializes in Four Ways
Contract ... you agree to do what you said you would do by shaking hands or signing a contract.
Competence ... you have the capabilities to accomplish the task correctly because of verification.
Intentionality ... you are ready and willing to fulfil your obligations (meet the direction and objectives) until the task is finished.
Depth, Duration ... you will finish the task at a level consistent with what is defined as "good work" in relation to the task.
Onward ... would appreciate your thoughts ))smiles
