Workplace Transition 1719 highlights the importance of three action verbs: Improve ... Focus ... Strengthen ... and suggests their importance to all actions taken for workplace transition --> to co-create the well-living workplace ... that is, how do you improve - focus - strengthen your co-creation of your well-living workplace?
In addition, a shout out is made for the use of visual symbols - because there are those in the organization and who interact with the organization who could benefit from this form of communication ... improve, focus, strengthen visual communication!
A common thread - while explicitly or implicitly stated - in this series of ten articles is the importance of people navigation. Especially when it comes to recognition of the person and reward for the persons ... improve, focus, strengthen engagement and recognition!
This article is the eighth of 10 exploring Workplace Transition (Workplace Experience - #WPT, #WPX) ... where in workplace terms "transition (internal) is about the organization response to change (external) - knowing "change surrounds every challenge" (Dr. Linda Hines). Herein challenge is about the hindering and helping complementarity of challenges.

Improve - Focus - Strengthen all actions
Important action_outcomes to move the Plan of Action forward include:
- Define the actions Improve. Focus. Strengthen.
- Create shared “symbols” to reinforce implementation-innovation-inspiration for all actions
- Recognize each person in ways that has meaning to the person
- Manage rewards program accessible to all employees
Define the Actions --> Improve, Focus, Strengthen
Improve - become better (personally) ... make better (process)
Build on, upgrade, recover, increase
Linked to evaluation (Value: worth) - to improve something that exists all ready
Focus - the centre of attention, producing a clear (visual) definition
Centre, emphasis, subject, focal point
Linked to implementation (Value: Truth) - to focus on products, processes, practices
Strengthen - consider ways to make stronger
Reinforce, toughen, fortify
Linked to development (Value: Utility) - to create something new to assist, augment, automate
Improve, focus, and strengthen interact like a 3 circle Venn Diagram that is moving forward as the circles breathing in and out of each other - not fully whole and not fully apart ... to the extent that
- to improve something is to focus and strengthen it
- to improve something is to strengthen and focus it
- to focus something is to improve and strengthen it
- to focus something is to strengthen and improve it
- to strengthen something is to improve and focus it
- to strengthen something is to focus and improve it
Use Shared “Symbols” to Reinforce Implementation-Innovation-Inspiration for All Actions
Words and diagrams are useful ways to reinforce and guide actions like implement, innovate, and inspire - and more.
Annnddddddd, the use of symbols is another way to reinforce and guide persons forward.
Think: the Swoosh symbol of Nike: Just Do it!
See: the use of Environmental Occupational Health and Safety Symbols like flammable and poison
Ask your employees and customers for symbol suggestions.
Verify 100% acceptance (because you may not get 100% agreement as some persons have a visual symbol - negative - bias ... thus the 100% acceptance level is important).
Recognize Each Person in Ways that Has Meaning to the Person
Manage Rewards Program Accessible to All Employees
These two actions go together like two sides of a coin ... to have one is to have the other. Because to use one at the expense of the other is managing-leading folly = yes, the lack of good sense!
Each person requires/requests recognition that fits their hierarchy of values.
And persons will/may participate in reward programs that are competitive, collaborative or co-opetitive. Read the abstract of this research article
