Workplace, 10 Insights About the Organization of Extraordinary Work

by Stephen Hobbs in wellth movement  | 0 Comments

Summary:  Here are "10 Workplace Insights Organization of Work" (WOW). When all are used in their various combinations, they lead you to success. These insights are from an eagle perspective. And, these insights are useful to entrepreneurs with 2 or more employees through to executives with thousands of employees.

9+1 Workplace Insights Organization of Extraordinary Work

Here are 10 insights for the workplace organization of work (WOW).

Each insight is a book ... three of which are written (so far))smiles

#1 ... Workplace Culture (and climate)
At minimum - read about workplace (organizational) culture and its accompanying topic: organizational climate. Culture defined: About human interactions and the artefacts that result from those interactions. In addition, the only accompanying  word you can place with culture is its location like workplace culture, business culture, charitable culture, national culture, etc. AND there is no culture of "something" [safety, accountability, etc.]. There are movements of "something"!

#2 ... Imagined Futures and Current Realities
You work from Imagined Futures - those areas of work inside or outside the organization where you are called to improve, focus, and strengthen. That is, to wisely use your organizational and personal use of time, effort, and money. Current Realities identifies your current responses to workplace organization of work (WOW). Where Imagined Futures is about intention; Current Realities is about attention; and together, they are about your awareness of WOW.

#3 ... Well-Living Workplace
There are concepts and practices associated with creating a place of work where people live and work well together. Where and when they enjoy what they do and do what they enjoy. An associated term is healthy organization. Book: Creating the Well-Living Workplace

#4 ... Action_Outcome Mapping
A key function of your organization of work is to sequence actions to actualize outcomes in an Action verb_Outcome noun format like "demonstrate ethical decision making." Where the action verb is measurable to the outcome of knowledge and/or skill (condition) specified. You use this action_outcome (competency) technique to map your path forward and prioritize the detail you'll use to implement the plan.

#5 ... Hierarchy of Values
Every person decides from a hierarchy of values. This fact is not clear to most. With clarity, knowing your hierarchy of values assists with organization of work decisions especially in the ways leaders guide each person for whom they are accountable. Also, the organization states its values. Unfortunately, without due diligence, what is stated about organizational values is not what is practiced. Herein, is a workplace issue that blocks the organization of work from a community (collective) perspective.

#6 ...  Learning & Educating Approaches
Learning and educating are essential elements of your organization of work. There is workforce learning and workplace educating. And there is a ROI for both. When added to the overall ROI the associated details highlight the value of human and social capital. Most useful to link this topic with #4. Book: Help Them Help YOU Manage-Lead

#7 ... Management and Leadership
You cannot have management without leadership and leadership without management. They are like two sides of a coin. For a coin to be a coin, it requires two sides. For the organization of work to flourish it needs management and leadership functioning complementarily. Book: Manage and Lead the Organization of Work Using the Wiggly-T Dance Model

#8 ... Groups, Teams & More
When one or more people gather to work on a task, they create a group. The form and function of the grouping is important to nurture and nourish the organization of work. To realize the intended action_outcomes, it's important to name the type grouping correctly. If it's a group, call it a group. If it's a team, call it a team. If it's a committee, call it a committee. E.g., an issue, when a group is called a team and yet functions as a group. While on the surface the name seems immaterial, it's when "things" start to go sideways that members of the "team" use the characteristics of a "team" to call out what is happening or not in the group. (And vice versa!)

#9 ... Organization Legacy; Personal Legacy
Legacy is the useful whats (time, effort, money) a person gifts others so they can learn something from the person's lived experience. Mentoring is an example of personal legacy. In a broad sense, there is an organization legacy that can hinder and help those involved. This organization legacy story is explored and discovered in #1 when you use the Extraordinary Experiences (EX2) Platform technique TRIPIS. E.g., "that's how we've always done it!"

+1 ... Personal Context
For successful workplace organization of work (WOW), each person must articulate their personal organization of work (POW) in context to the bigger picture. Use the other 9 insights to guide each person forward through assignment of accountability and responsibility ... with fair use of recognition and reward ... based on each person's hierarchy of values. That includes "all persons involved" (employees, customers, volunteers, board members, contractors, etc.) with the WOW, both inside and outside the workplace.
