Last week was about "cycles" - this week it's about "flow"
And stay for the sounds of a forest river stream -->
Perspective
The second ecoliteracy tenet is "flow" like understand the flow cycles of the sun energy through the plant and animal ecosystems ... like the water systems from rain to oceans and the associated drinking system ...
Understanding these terms:
Flow ... about movement in time and space
- movement of a liquid - gas - electricity steadily and continuously
- your movement from one place to another steadily
- your mental state where challenges and competence are aligned - you are in the flow Wikipedia reference
- exchange of energy to the benefit of all involved
Fluidity ... the ability to move easily like honey versus water
Grandparents and Flow (see * below)
And so ... where and when might you encounter flow and fluidity?
As a parent - grandparent - family or friend - find opportunities to share an example of "flow" in nature with the children you know Daily-Weekly --> Saturday morning-Sunday afternoon:
- View the river or creek with an associated cautionary note
- Feel the wind in front of and behind a building
- Watch the sap of a tree
- Experience the mist within, from a higher spot
- Blow bubbles - and chase them
- Look at where ice melts in the Spring or during a Chinook
- Encourage children to experience an activity they enjoy, enjoy so much - and ask what happened
- Look at your breath on a cold day
- Watch the clouds
- See the birds flying alone and together
- Watch trafic flow
- Watch the flow of people walking
- *You walking from your house to the stream and back (LOL)

- Identify obstacles that divert flow (e.g., rock in the creek)
- Become aware of someone calling you for dinner
- Watch the impact of traffic lights

Like cycles, look for ways to appreciate flow in your life - at work - when volunteering - your health & wellness - when playing and recreating ...
Look for the "meaningful pattern recognition"
- When you see a pattern - you can recognize it - and give it meaning.
- When you seek to understand something (give it meaning) - can you discern a recognizable pattern?
- Where you see a pattern - what meaning do you assign it in case you see it again or want to replicate it?
