Have the International Coaching Federation (and many more) offering coaching certifications... ICF uses recorded experience and a written test of knowledge to award the certificate
With IMC we verify the competence of a mentor based on evidence-based learning and experience-based educating + submission and use of a Mentoring Log/Portfolio + we use a rigorous verification system which is framed by ISO standards and regulations, and the Criminal Code of Canada from an EOHS perspective...
About verification of knowledge concepts, skill practices, and the attitudinal values IMC recognizes you have lived experience --- and, others want to tap into your lived experience - therefore, when you answer the questions of the person before you with the intention of the evolvement of that person based on ethical values and ecological literacy - then you can begin to appreciate and celebrate what it means to mentor and thereafter be called a mentor... and if a certificate of competence mentor is what you want, it's what we can offer!

Notes from Doug Lawrence, Director Education & Outreach https://internationalmentoringcommunity.com
Mentoring Defined: Mentoring is a two-way trusted relationship where the mentor and mentee are both going to learn and grow on a personal and professional basis. The self-statements:
Self-esteem:
Self-confidence
Identity – Who am I and who do I want to be
Feeling of belonging
Feeling of competence
Self-Concept:
One of the Action_Outcome statements for the Certificate of Competence – Mentor
Is the way that you see yourself
Is the way that you think about yourself in every area of your life
Self-Worth:
The internal sense of being good enough and worthy of love and belonging from others
Self-Doubt:
Occurs when we lack confidence or feel incapable of doing things we need to do
Self-Confidence:
Is an attitude about your skills and abilities
You accept and trust yourself and have a sense of control in your life
You know your strengths and weaknesses well and have a positive view of yourself
People with low self-confidence often have errors in their thinking
